Home internet is usually under your control: you know the password, you can see the device list, and you can turn the router off. In a café, hotel, airport, or office guest network, it is different. Someone else set up the access point, and you cannot check it.
You protect a connection not for “full invisibility”, but so that data does not travel in the open through someone else’s network. Contact protects the path from your phone or computer to its network. After that, the request goes to the website as usual.
When this is especially useful
- Guest Wi‑Fi in a hotel, café, or airport.
- A shared network in a coworking space or at an event.
- Working with email and documents while traveling.
- Network changes: the phone switches from Wi‑Fi to mobile internet on its own.
What not to expect
A protected connection does not check whether a website is safe. It does not replace passwords, sign-in confirmation, or common sense. Websites still see that you visited them. The task is to protect data inside someone else’s network, not to hide the fact that you use the internet.
How to do this in Contact
Get access in the account, copy your personal link, and add it in the app. On Android the Contact app is the more convenient option. On iPhone, Windows and Mac, use the Contact client or Incy for now. After you turn it on, protection stays active until you turn it off yourself.
